How “Surgery As Ceremony” came to life

In my journey as a surgeon, I have forged a unique path that intertwines the realms of surgery and spirituality, to create”Surgery as Ceremony™.” This innovative approach is a tapestry woven with the threads of the human experience – body, mind, and spirit – honoring the profound metamorphosis that unfolds during the journey of surgery.
My exploration began with a profound realization: Traditional surgical methods often focus solely on the physical body, inadvertently sidelining the intricate interplay between the mind and spirit. Recognizing this imbalance, I embarked on a mission to create a protocol that honors the dimensions of body, mind, and soul, facilitating a harmonious unity that nurtures healing at its core.
The roots of “Surgery as Ceremony™” reach deep into the essence of both traditional ceremonial practices and modern surgical science. The journey commences with a shared desire for profound transformation. It matters not whether this yearning is for physical change, mental clarity, or spiritual connection; what unites us is the aspiration to embark on a journey of metamorphosis.
An integral cornerstone of this approach is the concept of altered states of consciousness. Drawing inspiration from age-old ceremonies involving meditation or medicinal aids, I recognized the parallels with the altered state induced by anesthesia in the surgical context. Remarkably, science has shown that the brain remains acutely responsive under general anesthesia, therefore traditional surgery can cause trauma in the body. The goal of Surgery as Ceremony™ is to create a conscious experience that creates healing rather than trauma during the surgery process.
The heart of “Surgery as Ceremony™” lies in the role of the surgeon as a compassionate guide.. Just as a shaman navigates seekers through spiritual realms, I embrace my role as a conduit for healing, guiding patients not only through the physical surgery but also through a profound internal exploration. This shift in perspective elevates surgery from a clinical procedure to a sacred rite of passage, allowing patients to experience the journey with a newfound sense of purpose and meaning.
The design of “Surgery as Ceremony™” is a collaborative team of specialists, each contributing their expertise to orchestrate a holistic healing experience. This collective synergy includes a psychotherapist, a surgeon – myself, and a certified lymphatic therapist. Together, we weave a tapestry of care that encompasses the body’s transformation, the mind’s intention, and the spirit’s elevation.
Embarking on the journey through the phases of “Seed,” “Bloom,” and “Thrive” is an awe-inspiring transformative journey. In the “Seed” phase, patients engage in ketamine-assisted therapy, laying the groundwork for intentions that harmonize their mental and spiritual aspirations for how they want to feel and look after their procedure. The “Bloom” phase, is the surgery itself and takes place in a carefully curated environment of tranquility, where music, vibration, and lighting combine to create a sanctified space.
Following surgery, the “Thrive” phase nurtures the body’s recovery and encourages the integration of the entire transformative experience with lymphatic massage, nutrition protocols and IV therapies.
I find deep fulfillment in witnessing patients not only heal physically but also experience profound shifts in their consciousness and spirit. “Surgery as Ceremony™” is my life’s endeavor, a legacy born from a commitment to honoring the sacredness of transformation. This innovative approach reflects the evolving landscape of surgical practice, embracing the beauty of our multidimensional existence. Through “Surgery as Ceremony™,” I aspire to guide individuals toward a holistic and profound healing journey, one that honors the unity of body, mind, and spirit, ultimately fostering a harmonious tapestry of well-being.
